Americans Divided: Survey Reveals Concerns Over Job Automation Impact

A recent survey conducted by the Harris Poll for the American Staffing Association, as reported by Rich Miller for Bloomberg, reveals that nearly 50% of Americans are concerned about job displacement due to automation.

Younger workers, Black, and Hispanic individuals express higher worries, while Baby Boomers and White Americans are less concerned. Surprisingly, one-third of Americans already use AI at work, marking a significant shift since 2017 when most were skeptical.

CEO Richard Wahlquist notes changing attitudes toward AI, from assistance to potential replacement. The survey also shows a consensus that increased automation will lead to higher unemployment, particularly among women, with variations across industries and demographics.
